Duties:

The primary duties and responsibilities of the Assistant Resident Engineer are to be a field point of contact for the client and project stakeholders.

Reporting directly to the Construction Manager (CM), the Assistant Resident Engineer (ARE) supports the CM in managing and supervising an assigned project. The ARE will be responsible for working directly with and assisting construction field inspection staff.  The ARE conducts reviews and verifications of submittals, RFIs, change order requests, construction schedules and inspector’s daily reports.

The ARE Is responsible for tracking changes in work, assisting in the preparation and negotiations of construction change orders and for preparation of weekly and monthly project reports. The ARE conducts weekly project progress meetings, takes job site photographs, reviews monthly pay requests, performs assignments requiring application of spreadsheets, databases, and scheduling software.

Excellent written and oral communication skills are required, as well as eagerness and enthusiasm to work in a team environment on a wide variety of construction management projects throughout California.

Requirements & Experience:

Position requires a BS in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a comparable combination of education and experience. Additionally, 3-5 years progressive experience on multi-disciplinary public works construction projects, such as water, wastewater, pipeline and other similar projects.

Compensation & Benefits:

Compensation based on experience and qualifications. The firm offers a highly competitive salary range of $110,000 – $130,000 a year and fringe benefits and most importantly an opportunity for engagement and support from a senior engineering team who has led major regional water resource projects throughout the western US.
